| 10/15/07 | | It is becoming increasing evident that at U-10 there is inconsistent interpretation of the league rules and coaches don't know which rules are being enforced, particularly offsides. League organizers see the need to standardize league rules as it appears their are community differences. | | |

| 9/22/07 | | Another beautiful day for fall soccer. With October just around the corner its time to think about where you packed all those bulky winter clothes. Both soccer clubs are in need to new parent volunteers to help organize these wonder activities. If you are willing to meet once monthly to discuss and give ideas how to make community soccer more fun for kids then we would love your help. Please contact your coach or any club representative to learn the time and location of the next monthly meeting. A lost and found bin has been started at Rhody field and that bin will be sitting on the beaches as you come onto the field near the concession stand on Tues, Thurs, and Saturdays during scheduled games. There are already at least 15 articles of clothing in them! | | |

| 9/17/07 | | Excellent opening weekend for fall interclub play. Many games had exciting finishes and the players seemed to have a great time. As this is recreational (emphasizes fun above all!) please remember as parent's to bring a chair, sit back, relax, and enjoy watching your kids running and playing soccer. | | |
| | | | | |

| 6/17/07 | | This fall SWYSC teams will be traveling off island. CWSC and NWSC rec teams will be playing together in the WISL league format similar to the spring season between CWSC and SWYSC. This is the first time these clubs have played together and it has been made possible by CWSC joining Washington State Youth Soccer Association this last spring. This is an important accomplishment for Whidbey Island youth soccer as all soccer players on the island are now part of the same parent organization. Congratulations to all those that made is happen! | | |

| 6/15/07 | | Rain, rain, and more rain. The first annual Soccerfest Tournament had some wonderful competitive soccer games. The kids seemed to have a great time despite the weather. Carnival activities are more fun when you are not soaked and shivering like most of us were. Next year hope for any other than steady rains and wind. Wonderfully successful first spring league. Already discussing improvements and planning for next year! | | |

| 5/26/07 | | This first WISL inter-island league play has been great stuff! With just two short weeks to go and Soccerfest Saturday on June 9 the season will soon be over. The time has come to submit your thoughts on what has gone well and what things could be done better in 2008. Please submit your comments using the webmaster link on the bottom of this page or talk to your club representatives. All ideas are welcomed! Congratulations! Central Whidbey Soccer Club has been accepted into the Whidbey Island Youth Soccer Association. Approval from WSYSA is anticipated shortly. Thus we now officially have three soccer clubs on Whidbey Island conveniently named North, Central, and South. We hope this is another completed step in the direction toward better cooperation between island soccer communities. Thank you to all that have worked hard to make this a reality! Soccer activities for this fall are still being discussed. SWYSC is currently forming traveling recreational teams to play in North County. CWSC and NWSC are considering combining their recreational programs to keep fall soccer here on the island. Expect to get clarification before school breaks for summer vacation. | | |

| 5/17/07 | | The season has just passed the half way point. The kids are definitely playing harder in the games and we organizers are happy with the many close games. All kids get much more excitement and learn more about themselves and their teammates in close games. CWSC organizers apologize to Ft.Casey visitors on Wednesday evening by the mysterious disappearance of the porti-potti's. The problem has been corrected. What a relief! Soccerfest is a go for Sat, June 9. Volunteers are needed for many activities to run this first annual tournament. Plan on arriving between 8:30 and 10am and everything will be complete and over by 2pm. Expect to be entertained by activities in every direction. The field will be full. Volunteers are needed between 2 and 2:30 for clean up also. To volunteer and hour or two from Coupeville email Jim Copenhaver at jcopenhaver@pioneernet.net or Chris Potts marinersfan68@cablespeed.com and on the south end email Terry Swanson whidgeo1@whidbey.com . All league teams are automatically enrolled in the tournament and all are guaranteed two games. There is no cost for this tournament as it is our own. Participation in soccer skills contests are available to all ages including adults. Expect nominal fees for these and food items. If any money is generated above expenses it will be used to support youth soccer scholarships in both communities. Soccerfest 2007 T-shirts will be available in very limited qualities so if you want one best to place an order right now by contacting Terry Swanson. Advertising for this activity to begin this week. Watch for more details. | | |

| 5/8/07 | | Notice of minor schedule change for all Girls U-14 games at Ft Casey. Games will be played on Ft. Casey 3 instead of Ft Casey 2. This field is 10 yards longer and 5 yards wider. Plans are underway for an end of season tournament on Sat, June 9th, to be held at the SWSC. Code name 'soccerfest'. Will be a fun filled morning of soccer chaos with games starting at 9am and Championship games completed by 1 pm. Many fun and entertaining soccer activities are being planned in addition to the games. This will be the type of activity where kids are going to want to be there all morning. Food and beverages will be on site. Expect to hear much more about soccerfest over the next 1-2 weeks. This is the day your kids will not want to miss so try to keep it clear. Many volunteers are needed so if this sounds interesting make your interests known. On both fields we have been doing a great job of picking up litter. Keep up the good work all. Coaches- expect to have a photo of your team taken for the website this week if it has not been done already. No names will be attached. Scores and standings for U-12 and U-14 are being kept. If you see errors click the webmaster button below. The scores are not official and in some cases they are questimations. Remember we are going for balance in this league not domination. Use this information to achieve balance. | | |

| 4/30/07 | | Games this weekend went well. One orange sweat shirt got left at the fields and one black sweatshirt with CHS logo lost. If found contact Chris Potts 678-2906. Weekend games are now done. The remainder of the season will be played on weekday evenings. Games start this week at Ft. Casey in Coupeville. Coaches and parent's are doing a great job being supportive during the games. Keep up the great work! U-16 thru U-19 Select tryouts Sat May 12 and Sun May 20 from 11-1 at Ft. Nugent fields in Oak Harbor. Please spread the word. Sounds like a great opportunity for the High School age players. | | |

| 4/27/07 | | Congratulations to all the players, coaches, referee's, and parent's that participated in last weekends opening Saturday games! It was great to watch the kids play. The weather was cool, breezy, and intermittently sprinkling but I don't think the kids noticed at all. This Saturday will be the busiest day of the season so get out there and support your kids. The weather for Sat will be predictably unpredictable. Wear layers and put an umbrella in the trunk. Several issues to pass on. Girls U-14 will be playing 7v7. If each team has 8 players then the coaches can agree to play 8v8. In general, coaches are being encouraged to maximize playing time and minimize sitting on the bench time for all players. To most effectively accomplish this, final decisions regarding the # of players on the field for each game will be agreed upon by both coaches just before kickoff once the number of available players is known. Having your kids arrive to all games at least 30min before kick-off will be of great assistance to your coaches. If your child can not make it to a game be sure to notify your coach as soon as that information is available. Enjoy the games! | | |
| | | | | |
